Simply because vapes serve as an alternative (a drastically safer one) to cigarettes, people have come to associate the myths related to cigarettes to vapes as well. In fact, not only just myths, people have subjected vapes to the same kind of questions answers to which have already been found for cigarettes. The pivoting element for all of these questions has and always will be health.

Moreover, even the FDA (the regulating authority on nicotine intake devices) has come to include vapes under the same category as that of cigarettes and introduce laws that address vapes the same way as they do cigarettes. For instance, not only smoking but vaping in public has also been restricted, vapes as well as cigarettes have seen high taxes on commodity.

Vapor vs. Smoke

Now when you learn that publicly using vapes is also restricted, the question as to why it is so arises. Well, this is largely because of the perception that the vapor produced from vapes is the same as the smoke produced from cigarettes (pay attention to the terminology used for both). However, very few people might realize that both of these are two very different things.

The primary difference is the fact that the smoke produced form cigarettes is a result of combustion, whereby tobacco is literally consumed by the fire. On the other hand, vapor, in vapes, is produced as a result of evaporation of the e-liquid that is a direct consequence of the coils heating up upon contact with the batteries.

What does each contain?

Now that you know the fundamental difference between both, you can now probe a little deeper to find out what smoke contains and what vapor contains. Vapor has been found to complain nothing more than the evaporated particles of an e liquid. Smoke, on the other hand, does not only contain burnt particles, but also contains several other chemicals, known to be extremely harmful, that are produced as a result of the combustion of the constituents of a cigarette.

So, the question of whether vapor is harmful is already out of question given the vapor constituents are nothing more than an e liquid. But, now that the smoke from cigarettes contains not only chemicals from cigarette but new harmful chemicals that make the smoke even more dangerous.

Second Hand Vapor

So, the phenomenon related to smoking is called passive smoking which involves inhalation of already exhaled smoke by a smoker. As already explained this smoke contains thousands of harmful material that are the cause of banning smoking in public. This smoke is also known to linger for very long and has a very bad smell which makes the experience of being in the same place as the smoker very uncomfortable.

When it comes to vapes though, second-hand vapor has been proven to not contain any chemicals harmful to the human body any more than the first-hand vapor does. Moreover, the vapor does not linger and has a very pleasant smell according to the flavor.
